A
homonym of the Chinese word for surplus, the Carp has always been
held in great esteem by the Chinese as a symbol of great wealth,
advantage and benefit in business so they are often displayed
in the homes of wealthy Chinese. In the ancient Chinese legend,
the carp sometimes portrayed with a dragon, referring to a phrase
used by the Chinese of old times for man who obtains a high official
position: "Carp jumping up to or over the dragon gate".
The dragon gate represents "the door to the court".
Nowadays, Chinese uses it to congratulate or to compliment one
with unusual ability into a good future. When displayed in the
home, carp is believed to attract great riches and prosperity
for the members of the household. For Feng Shui, this picture
should be placed in office, bedroom or living room to enhance
wealth and bless the place with abundance.
